Carleton Place downs Kanata, 4-1

Andy Sturtz racked up one point to lead the Carleton Place Canadians to a 4-1 victory over the Kanata Stallions.

Carleton Place put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kanata to score on any of its four power plays. The Canadians forced the Stallions goalie Cole Skinner to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Carleton Place additionally got points from Stephen Bayliss, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Carleton Place also had goals scored by Vinny Post and Dylan Gareau, who scored one goal each. More assists for Carleton Place came via Larry Smith, who had two and Adam Lloyd, Luke Edwards, and Evan Peterson, who each chipped in one.

Kanata was held below its usual level of production. The Stallions average 3.4 goals per game.

Kanata was led by Kasey Kulczycki, who scored the team's only goal. Kulczycki scored 14:55 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place. Ben Fanjoy provided the assist.

Justin Laforest recorded 16 saves for Carleton Place. The Canadians incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Stallions' Skinner stopped 38 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Kanata incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
