Brockville wins tough contest against Kanata, 4-3

The Brockville Braves gutted out a close 4-3 win against the Kanata Stallions.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Nathan Todd at 15:46 of the third period.

Brockville got the win behind a great game by Todd, who had two goals and one assist. Todd scored the first of his two goals at 18:11 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brockville. Ryan Cusin picked up the assist. Todd's next tally made the score 4-3 Brockville with 4:14 left in the third period. The Braves had gotten the advantage when Kanata's Trent Yule was sent off for interference. Eric Israel assisted on the tally.

Brockville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stallions to score on any of their three power plays.

Brockville additionally got points from Jonathan Power, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Brett Van Stralen also scored for Brockville. More assists for Brockville came via Owen Gill, Jared Henry, and Sean King, who contributed one a piece.

Kanata was helped by Braedan Moffatt, who grabbed one goal. Moffatt scored 15:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kanata. Nic LaBurn picked up the assist. Kanata also had goals scored by Connor Cobbold and Kasey Kulczycki, who scored one goal each. In addition, Kanata received assists from Chris Harper, Devin Fullum, and Alex Stothart, who each chipped in one.

The Braves' David Poirier stopped 25 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Brockville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Cole Skinner rejected 26 shots on goal for the Stallions. Kanata incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
