Nepean rides Magnus to victory over Cumberland, 2-1Nepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Sun, Jan 12, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Brett Magnus helped the Nepean Raiders defeat the Cumberland Grads, 2-1. Nepean was sparked by Mac MacSorley, who finished with one goal. MacSorley scored 7:36 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Nepean. Keenan Hodgson picked up the assist. Max Robitaille also scored for Nepean. More assists for Nepean came via Mitchell Herlihey, who had one. Cumberland forced the Raiders goalie Magnus to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. The Grads were led by David Bennett, who scored the team's only goal. Bennett scored on the power play 11:49 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A head contact penalty on Alexander Sifton had put Cumberland on the power play. Travis Douglas provided the assist. Magnus recorded 34 saves for Nepean. The Raiders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Grads' Kevin Gollmer stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Cumberland incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
