Cumberland outlasts Pembroke, 3-2Navan Memorial Centre Tue, Jan 07, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cumberland Grads and the Pembroke Lumber Kings were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Cumberland made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2. The Grads gained the winning advantage on a goal by Matthew Dupont 10:17 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Cumberland was sparked by Dupont, who grabbed one goal. Cumberland also had goals scored by Bobby Williams and Bruno Cheff, who scored one goal each. More assists for Cumberland came via Jean-Gabriel Lacombe, who had two and Neil Penner and Matt Allan, who each chipped in one. Pembroke excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Lumber Kings were helped by Felix Chamberland, who racked up one goal. Chamberland scored on the power play 4:23 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Pembroke had taken the advantage when the Grads' David Bennett got sent off for hooking. Keegan Harper picked up the assist. Pembroke also got points from Mark Petaccio, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Dylan Chase and Colin Kruse, who contributed one a piece. Kevin Gollmer rejected 27 shots on goal for Cumberland. The Grads incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Darren Smith recorded 27 saves for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
