Pembroke rolls over Kemptville, 6-1Pembroke Memorial Center Tue, Feb 18, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Pembroke Lumber Kings had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Kemptville 73s. Pembroke's Darren Smith was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past him. Smith certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.77 entering the contest. Kyle Shaw had a great game for the Lumber Kings, netting two goals. Shaw's tallies came at 8:15 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Pembroke and 14:44 into the third to make the score 5-0 Pembroke. Pembroke kept Kemptville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Matt Couvrette made 43 saves on 49 shots. The Lumber Kings' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Pembroke averages 3.5 goals per contest. Pembroke also got points from Chris Minns, who also registered one goal and one assist and Jordan Larson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Pembroke also had goals scored by Felix Chamberland and Steven Johnston, who scored one goal each. More assists for Pembroke came via Dylan Staples, Mark Petaccio, Patrice Wren, Stephan Beauvais, and Keegan Harper, who each chipped in one and Lucas Gonu and Ryan Erickson, who contributed two a piece. The 73s excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Kemptville could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The 73s average 3.4 goals per game.
