Cornwall vanquishes Nepean in shootout, 3-2 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Cornwall Colts defeated the Nepean Raiders in a shootout 3-2 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured 14 attempts between both teams.

Cornwall's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Nepean power plays.

The Colts were led by Kevin Hope, who racked up one goal and one assist. Hope scored 2:25 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. Pierre Ouellette assisted on the tally. Cornwall also got a goal from Chase Pearson as well. More assists for Cornwall came via Cal Hofford and Parker Krol, who contributed one a piece.

Nepean stifled Cornwall's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Raiders were helped by Francesco Iannantuono, who grabbed one goal. Iannantuono scored 6:42 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Max Robitaille picked up the assist. Tanner Williams also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Keenan Hodgson, Philippe Gadoury, and Kris Johnson, who each chipped in one.

The Colts' Jordan Piccolino stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Cornwall incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Colts, Piccolino was ejected from the game. Brett Magnus made 25 saves for Nepean on 27 shots. The Raiders incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
