Brockville downs Ottawa, 5-1Jim Durrell Complex-Peplinski Sat, Jan 04, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Vito DeVito grabbed one point to lead the Brockville Braves to a 5-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators. Brockville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Ottawa to score on any of its four power plays. Brockville also got points from Jonathan Power, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Sean King, who also had one goal and one assist, and Andrew Peski, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Brockville also got a goal from Hayden Hulton as well. More assists for Brockville came via Cory Wilson and David Lappin, who contributed one a piece and Eric Israel and Nathan Todd, who each chipped in two. The Senators could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Ottawa averages 4.0 goals per game. The Senators' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Ottawa finished with 20 penalty minutes. The Senators were led by Justin Charbonneau, who scored the team's only goal. Charbonneau scored 10:21 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brockville. Deric Boudreau provided the assist. Andrew Pikul rejected 24 shots on goal for the Braves. Brockville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Alexandre Savard-Belanger made 23 saves for Ottawa on 27 shots.
