Doef's goals lift Smiths Falls to 7-4 victory over KanataKanata Recreational Complex Fri, Jan 03, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
The Smiths Falls Bears relied on the scoring touch of Neil Doef, who netted two goals, to beat the Kanata Stallions, 7-4. Doef scored at 4:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls and again while on the power play 12:15 into the second to make the score 4-2 Smiths Falls.Smiths Falls' penalty kill excelled, as the Bears gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. Smiths Falls stifled Kanata's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Stallions were unable to stop the Bears from sending pucks towards the net, and Smiths Falls eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. The Bears surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Smiths Falls averages 3.9 goals per contest. Smiths Falls also got points from Alek Deblois, who also registered one goal and one assist and Michael Buonincontri, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Chris King as well. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Ben Beasley, Domenic Camastra, Nic Marchand, Karson McCartney, Victor Beaulac, and Zachary Senyshyn, who contributed one a piece and Brett Costello and Taylor Henry, who each chipped in two. Kanata forced the Bears goalie Cory Simic to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. The Stallions were helped by Nic LaBurn, who had one goal and two assists.
