Gloucester outlasts Nepean, 3-2Earl Armstrong Arena Fri, Jan 03, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Gloucester Rangers escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Nepean Raiders. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Clark Veenstra secured the win for Gloucester with a goal in the third period. The Rangers were led by Veenstra, who tallied one goal. Veenstra scored 18:13 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Gloucester. Vincent Guimond picked up the assist. Gloucester kept Nepean's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Mulder made 37 saves on 40 shots. Gloucester additionally got points from Maximian Veronneau, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Connor McLaren also scored for Gloucester. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Chris Morgan and Ryan Kuffner, who contributed one a piece. The Raiders excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Rangers were unable to stop Nepean from sending pucks towards the net, and the Raiders eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Nepean was helped by Michael Vered, who finished with one goal. Nate Skidmore rejected 33 shots on goal for Gloucester. The Rangers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nepean incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
