Brockville vanquishes Cornwall in shootout, 5-4 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Brockville Braves defeated the Cornwall Colts in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

The shootout lasted for six attempts between the teams.

Brockville saw a four-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. The Braves made the score 4-0 on a power play goal by Ryan Cusin at 15:18 in the first period. Cornwall evened things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Billy Ulrick at 19:26 in the third period.

In a losing effort, the Colts were sparked by Kevin Hope, who registered one goal and two assists. Hope scored short handed 18:22 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Brockville. Cornwall played down a man on Ulrick's interference.

Brockville kept the Colts' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jordan Piccolino made 32 saves on 37 shots.

The Braves were helped by Sean King, who tallied one goal. King scored 1:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brockville. Hayden Hulton picked up the assist. Brockville additionally got points from Cusin, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Brockville included Brett Van Stralen and Nathan Todd, who each put in one. In addition, Brockville received assists from Jonathan Power, who had two and Owen Gill, Eric Israel, and Anthony Walsh, who each chipped in one.

Brockville was unable to stop Cornwall from sending pucks towards the net, and the Colts eventually piled up 43 shots on goal.

Cornwall also got points from Marly Quince, who also had two goals and one assist. More assists for Cornwall came via Cal Hofford, Tanner Spink, and Parker Krol, who contributed one a piece.

Andrew Pikul made 39 saves for the Braves on 43 shots. Brockville totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For the Braves, Gill was ejected from the game. Cornwall totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Colts ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Zach Renfrew was ejected from the game.
