Cumberland beats Gloucester 5-2 as Dupont gets hat trickNavan Memorial Centre Sun, Dec 15, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Matthew Dupont netted a hat trick to lead the Cumberland Grads over the Gloucester Rangers, 5-2. Dupont's first goal came 10:20 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:42 into the second and at 15:25 into the second.Gloucester's power play was ineffective against Cumberland's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Grads' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Gloucester power plays. The Rangers were unable to stop Cumberland from sending pucks towards the net, and the Grads eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Cumberland bested its season scoring average. This season, the Grads average 2.8 goals per contest. Cumberland also got points from Bruno Cheff, who also had one goal and one assist and Maxime St.Pierre, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Cumberland were Jean-Gabriel Lacombe, who had two and Cameron Roth, Tielen Celentano, and Matthew Morin, who each chipped in one. Gloucester stifled Cumberland's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Rangers kept the Grads' goalie busy throughout the game, and Reilly Turner made 30 saves on 32 shots. Gloucester was helped by Greg Jansz, who finished with two goals. Jansz scored the first of his two goals at 8:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Gloucester. Connor McLaren provided the assist. Jansz's next tally made the score 5-2 Cumberland with 5:00 left in the third period. Chris Morgan picked up the assist. Cumberland incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Rangers' Nate Skidmore stopped 37 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Gloucester incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
