Smiths Falls uses shootout to best Kanata, 3-2 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Smiths Falls Bears defeated the Kanata Stallions in a shootout 3-2 (2-0 SO).

The shootout featured four attempts between both teams. In addition to the clincher, Smiths Falls got a shootout goal from Stefano Momesso.

The Bears overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Smiths Falls trailed 2-1 after a goal by Kanata's Alex Stothart at 19:08 in the second period. The Bears tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Zachary Senyshyn at 3:41 in the third period.

Smiths Falls' penalty kill excelled, as the Bears gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Smiths Falls also got a goal from Karson McCartney as well. Other players who recorded assists for Smiths Falls were Victor Beaulac, who had two and Brett Costello and Momesso, who contributed one a piece.

Alex Robinson also scored for Kanata. In addition, Kanata received assists from Chris Harper, who had one and Jason Brochu, who had two.

Smiths Falls' Michael Pinios stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Bears incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Cole Skinner made 26 saves for the Stallions on 28 shots. Kanata incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
