Cornwall holds on for 6-5 win against KemptvilleNorth Grenville Municipal 1 Fri, Dec 13, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kemptville 73s tried to dig themselves out of a four-goal hole, but the Cornwall Colts held on for a 6-5 victory. A goal by Marly Quince put Cornwall up 5-1 in the second period, but Kemptville pulled to within one on Cody Hendsbee's tally 19:46 into the third period. The Colts made the 73s' goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, totaling 45 shots and forcing 39 saves. Matt Couvrette made 13 stops and Nicholas Hodgins made 26. Cornwall outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Colts average 3.0 goals per contest. Cornwall cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on five chances. The Colts were helped by Kenny Nelson, who tallied one goal. Nelson scored 15:00 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cornwall. Kevin Hope assisted on the tally. Cornwall also got points from Quince, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cornwall also had goals scored by Cal Hofford, who had two and Lawson MacDougall and Matthew Cruickshank, who each put in one. In addition, Cornwall received assists from Billy Ulrick, who had two and Ross Craig, Neil Woolfrey, Zach Renfrew, and Chase Pearson, who each chipped in one. Cornwall was unable to stop Kemptville from sending pucks towards the net, and the 73s eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Kemptville additionally got points from Dean Galasso, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kemptville also got a goal from Jesse Blais as well.
