Gloucester boosted by Skidmore's play in net, beats Hawkesbury 5-1

The Gloucester Rangers relied on the scoring touch of Connor McLaren, who netted two goals, to beat the Hawkesbury Hawks, 5-1.

McLaren scored at 15:01 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Gloucester and again while 3:52 into the second to make the score 3-0 Gloucester.

Gloucester's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Hawkesbury power plays. The Rangers kept Hawkesbury's goalie busy throughout the game, and JP Sabourin made 30 saves on 35 shots. Gloucester got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Gloucester additionally got points from Matt Rosebrook, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Matt Foget, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Matthieu Desautels, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Dylan McDiarmid and Nicolas Beaudin, who each chipped in one and Maximian Veronneau and Greg Jansz, who contributed two a piece.

The Hawks stifled the Rangers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Gloucester was unable to stop Hawkesbury from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Hawkesbury also got a goal from Francis Landers as well. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Yanik Laliberte and Nicholas Legault, who each chipped in one.

Nate Skidmore rejected 39 shots on goal for the Rangers. Gloucester incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Hawkesbury incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
