Hope's big game bests Hawkesbury in 5-2 Cornwall win

The Cornwall Colts' Kevin Hope had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Hawkesbury Hawks.

Hope found the back of the net 4:43 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Cornwall and again while on the power play 19:37 into the third to make the score 5-2 Cornwall.

Hawkesbury was unable to stop Cornwall from sending pucks towards the net, and the Colts eventually piled up 36 shots on goal. Cornwall outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Colts average 2.9 goals per contest.

Cornwall also got points from Jay DAmour, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Kenny Nelson, who also had one goal and one assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Tanner Spink as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Cal Hofford, Benjamin Poirier (AP), Marly Quince, Billy Ulrick, Chase Pearson, Pierre Ouellette, and Ryan Patulli, who contributed one a piece.

The Hawks' offense rang up 44 shots on Cornwall's net.

Hawkesbury was helped by Francis Landers, who tallied one goal. Landers scored on the power play 3:21 into the third period to make the score 1-1. An interference penalty on Quince had put the Hawks on the power play. Yanik Laliberte provided the assist. Daniel Brickley also scored for Hawkesbury. More assists for Hawkesbury came via Zach Car and CJ Stubbs, who each chipped in one.

Jordan Piccolino made 42 saves for the Colts on 44 shots. Cornwall incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. For the Colts, Ouellette was ejected from the game. Matthew Jenkins rejected 31 shots on goal for Hawkesbury. The Hawks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
