Carleton Place outlasts Cumberland, 3-2Carleton Place Arena Sun, Dec 08, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Carleton Place Canadians gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Cumberland Grads. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Andy Sturtz's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Carleton Place was led by Sturtz, who finished with one goal and one assist. Sturtz scored 3:57 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Carleton Place. Evan Peterson assisted on the tally. The Canadians' offense rang up 40 shots on Cumberland's net. Others who scored for Carleton Place included Craig Pefley and Stephen Bayliss, who each put in one. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Luke Edwards, who had one and Elias Ghantous, who had two. The Grads were helped by Dylan McDonald, who grabbed one goal. McDonald scored 12:54 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Jean-Gabriel Lacombe provided the assist. Cumberland also got a goal from Bobby Williams as well. More assists for Cumberland came via David Bennett, Matt Allan, and Mark Golberg, who contributed one a piece. Guillaume Therien made 18 saves for Carleton Place on 20 shots. The Canadians incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Reilly Turner rejected 37 shots on goal for Cumberland. The Grads incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
