Hawkesbury rides Jenkins to victory over Cornwall, 2-1Robert Hartley Sports Complex1 Fri, Dec 06, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Hawkesbury Hawks relied on the sparkling performance of Matthew Jenkins in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Cornwall Colts. Cornwall's power play was ineffective against Hawkesbury's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Hawks were led by Carl Faucher, who had one goal and one assist. Faucher scored on the power play 18:31 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury. Hawkesbury had taken the advantage when the Colts' Marly Quince got sent off for boarding. Francis Landers picked up the assist. The Hawks kept Cornwall's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jordan Piccolino made 39 saves on 41 shots. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Zach Car as well. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Daniel Brickley and Yanik Laliberte, who each chipped in one. Hawkesbury was unable to stop the Colts from sending pucks towards the net, and Cornwall eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. The Colts were led by Cal Hofford, who scored the team's only goal. Hofford scored on the power play 15:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. Cornwall had gotten the advantage when the Hawks' CJ Stubbs was sent off for interference. Jay DAmour assisted on the tally. Hawkesbury's Jenkins stopped 33 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Hawks incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Colts incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
