Senyshyn's hat trick boosts Smiths Falls over Hawkesbury, 8-3

A hat trick by Zachary Senyshyn was the highlight in Bears' 8-3 win against the Hawkesbury Hawks.

Senyshyn's first goal came 2:52 into the first period. He then added goals at 18:18 into the second and at 2:38 into the third.

Hawkesbury's power play was ineffective against the Smiths Falls Bears' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Smiths Falls' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Hawkesbury power plays. The Hawks were unable to stop the Bears from sending pucks towards the net, and Smiths Falls eventually piled up 40 shots on goal. The Bears found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Smiths Falls averages 3.9 goals per game.

Smiths Falls additionally got points from Alek Deblois, who also registered one goal and one assist and Ben Beasley, who also had one goal and one assist. Smiths Falls also had goals scored by Brett Costello, Neil Doef, and Stefano Momesso, who each put in one. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Chris MacMillan, who had three, Yannick Crete, Taylor Henry, and Karson McCartney, who each chipped in one, and Domenic Camastra, Sebastien Barrette, and Nicolas Coates, who contributed two a piece.

Hawkesbury was helped by Jake Roeper, who tallied one goal. Roeper scored 18:00 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Jonathan Cyr provided the assist. Others who scored for Hawkesbury included Damien Charette and Nicolas Vlahos, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Michael Guerrera, Nicholas Legault, and Francois Lemelin, who each chipped in one.

Cory Simic rejected 22 shots on goal for the Bears. Smiths Falls incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Bears ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Costello was ejected from the game. Matthew Jenkins recorded 32 saves for the Hawks. Hawkesbury incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
