Huge game by Douglas boosts Cumberland over Kanata, 5-2

Behind a great game by Travis Douglas, who had two goals and one assist, the Cumberland Grads defeated the Kanata Stallions, 5-2.

Douglas' tallies came at 2:14 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Cumberland and 19:34 into the third to make the score 5-2 Cumberland.

Cumberland's penalty kill excelled, as the Grads gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Cumberland stifled Kanata's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Grads' offense rang up 38 shots on the Stallions' net. Cumberland found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Grads average 2.9 goals per contest.

Cumberland additionally got points from Mark Golberg, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Cumberland also had goals scored by Nicholas Ngwafusi and Dylan McDonald, who each put in one. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Matthew Dupont, who had three and Bobby Williams, Jean-Gabriel Lacombe, and Peter Segouin, who contributed one a piece.

Kanata's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Cumberland power plays. The Stallions forced Cumberland goalie Reilly Turner to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Kanata was helped by Jason Brochu, who racked up one goal. Brochu scored 14:29 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Cumberland. Kanata also got a goal from Trent Yule as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Chris Harper, Braedan Moffatt, and Alex Stothart, who each chipped in one.

Turner rejected 33 shots on goal for the Grads. Cumberland incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Cole Skinner recorded 33 saves for the Stallions. Kanata incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
