Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Pembroke Lumber Kings defeated the Cornwall Colts in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO). The shootout featured five attempts between both teams.Pembroke overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Lumber Kings fell behind 3-1 after a goal by Cornwall's Matthew Cruickshank at 19:22 in the second period. Pembroke tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Fraser Turner at 19:54 in the third period. The Lumber Kings' penalty kill excelled, as Pembroke gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. The Lumber Kings kept the Colts' goalie busy throughout the game, and James Edwardson made 35 saves on 39 shots. Pembroke was helped by Felix Chamberland, who registered one goal. Chamberland scored 14:27 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Cornwall. Mark Petaccio provided the assist. Colin Kruse also scored for Pembroke. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Dylan Chase, Sam Gleason, Keegan Harper, and Jake Staples, who contributed one a piece. Cornwall excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Colts forced the Lumber Kings goalie Darren Smith to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. Others who scored for Cornwall included Tanner Spink and Sean King, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Ross Craig, Jay DAmour, Billy Ulrick, Parker Krol, and Kenny Nelson, who each chipped in one. Smith recorded 38 saves for Pembroke. The Lumber Kings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Cornwall incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
