Huge game by Faucher boosts Hawkesbury over Cumberland, 5-1Navan Memorial Centre Sun, Dec 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Behind a great game by Carl Faucher, who had two goals and one assist, the Hawkesbury Hawks defeated the Cumberland Grads, 5-1. Faucher scored at 6:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hawkesbury and again while 9:31 into the first to make the score 2-0 Hawkesbury.Hawkesbury's Matthew Jenkins was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past him. Jenkins certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.8 entering the contest. The Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Hawkesbury found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Hawks average 2.7 goals per contest. Hawkesbury also got points from Francis Landers, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points and Yanik Laliberte, who also had one goal and two assists. Joshua Renaud also scored for Hawkesbury. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Damien Charette, Daniel Brickley, Jonathan Cyr, and Jake Roeper, who contributed one a piece. Cumberland was led by Matthew Morin, who scored the team's only goal. Morin scored 13:02 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Hawkesbury. Bruno Cheff picked up the assist.
