Watt's big game bests Gloucester in 6-2 Nepean win

Behind a great game by Brandon Watt, who had two goals and two assists, the Nepean Raiders defeated the Gloucester Rangers, 6-2.

Watt scored at 1:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Nepean and again while 11:42 into the second to make the score 4-2 Nepean.

Nepean kept Gloucester's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nate Skidmore made 29 saves on 35 shots. The Raiders surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Nepean averages 3.7 goals per game. The Raiders got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Nepean additionally got points from Francesco Iannantuono, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Nepean included Keenan Hodgson, who had two and Conner Judson and Ryan J Robertson, who scored one goal each. In addition, Nepean received assists from Felix Page, Mitchell Herlihey, and Kris Johnson, who contributed one a piece and Tanner Williams and Josh Zizek, who each chipped in two.

The Rangers were helped by Greg Jansz, who had one goal. Jansz scored on the power play 5:24 into the second period to make the score 2-2. A slashing penalty on Iannantuono had put Gloucester on the power play. Mitch Allen picked up the assist. Maximian Veronneau also scored for Gloucester. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Danny Plourde and Nicolas Beaudin, who contributed one a piece.

Ryan Mulder made 27 saves for Nepean on 29 shots. The Raiders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Rangers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
