Carleton Place holds on for 5-4 win against Smiths FallsSmiths Falls Memorial Centre Fri, Nov 29, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Smiths Falls Bears tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Carleton Place Canadians held on for a 5-4 victory. A goal by Jim Roll put Carleton Place up 5-3 in the third period, but Smiths Falls pulled to within one on Victor Beaulac's tally 12:15 into the third period. Andy Sturtz was all over the ice for the Canadians, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Sturtz scored 5:17 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Stephen Bayliss picked up the assist. Carleton Place kept the Bears' goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Pinios made 32 saves on 37 shots. Carleton Place also got points from Elias Ghantous, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Carleton Place included Adam Lloyd and Craig Pefley, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Evan Peterson, who had three and Brett DAndrea and Kelly Summers, who contributed one a piece. Smiths Falls' offense rang up 35 shots on the Canadians' net. Smiths Falls also had goals scored by Yannick Crete, Domenic Camastra, and Taylor Henry, who each put in one. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Brandon Lesway, Sebastien Barrette, Nic Marchand, Neil Doef, and Stefano Momesso, who each chipped in one. Guillaume Therien recorded 31 saves for Carleton Place. The Canadians incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Bears incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
