Petaccio's goals lift Pembroke to 7-3 victory over GloucesterEarl Armstrong Arena Fri, Nov 29, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Mark Petaccio was all over the ice for the Pembroke Lumber Kings, as he tallied four goals in Pembroke's 7-3 win over the Gloucester Rangers. Petaccio's first goal came 11:01 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:47 into the second, at 13:26 into the second, and at 14:16 into the third.The Lumber Kings' penalty kill excelled, as Pembroke gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. The Lumber Kings forced Gloucester's goalies to work in net, racking up 50 shots and forcing 43 saves. Doug Johnston made 30 stops and Nate Skidmore made 13. Pembroke surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Lumber Kings have scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign. Pembroke also got points from Mac MacSorley, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Pembroke also had goals scored by Chris Minns and Jordan Larson, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Sam Gleason, Colin Kruse, Dylan Staples, Brandon Kosik, Keegan Harper, and Jake Staples, who contributed one a piece and Reid Murphy and Felix Chamberland, who each chipped in two. The Rangers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Gloucester's offense rang up 39 shots on Pembroke's net. The Rangers were helped by Tristan Whynot, who racked up one goal. Whynot scored on the power play 7:58 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke. Gloucester had gained a power play chance when Chamberland was whistled for holding. Nicolas Beaudin provided the assist. Gloucester additionally got points from Beaudin, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Gloucester also got a goal from Lucas Zwaagstra as well. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Connor McLaren, Matt Rosebrook, Greg Jansz, and Vincent Guimond, who contributed one a piece. Darren Smith recorded 36 saves for the Lumber Kings. Pembroke incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Rangers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
