Nepean beats Brockville 5-3 after comeback scareBrockville Memorial Centre Fri, Nov 29, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brockville Braves tried their best to erase a four-goal deficit, but the Nepean Raiders would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3. Nepean took a 5-1 lead during the third period, only to have Brockville storm back on a Andrew Peski goal 18:40 into the third period to pull to two goals down. The Raiders got the win thanks to a great game by Brandon Watt, who had one goal and two assists. Watt scored on the power play 1:43 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Nepean. A tripping penalty on Ryan Walter had put Nepean on the power play. Mitchell Herlihey picked up the assist. The Raiders cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on four chances. Nepean also got points from Felix Page, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Christopher Smith, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Philippe Gadoury, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Tanner Williams also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Josh Zizek, Francesco Iannantuono, and Max Robitaille, who each chipped in one. Nepean was unable to stop the Braves from sending pucks towards the net, and Brockville eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Brockville also had goals scored by Brett Van Stralen and Cory Wilson, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Brockville were Eric Israel, who had two and Jonathan Power, Nathan Todd, and Jesse Langan, who contributed one a piece. Brett Magnus made 41 saves for the Raiders on 44 shots. Nepean incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. The Raiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Conner Judson was ejected from the game. The Braves' David Poirier stopped 20 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Brockville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
