Cornwall rolls over Gloucester, 7-3

The Cornwall Colts were firing on all cylinders against the Gloucester Rangers, and when the final buzzer sounded Colts emerged with a 7-3 win.

Cornwall got the win on the strength of a great game by Dean Derouchie, who had two goals and one assist. Derouchie scored the first of his two goals at 9:55 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cornwall. Marly Quince provided the assist. Derouchie's next tally made the score 7-1 Cornwall with 6:54 left in the third period. Chase Pearson assisted on the tally.

The Colts made Rangers' goaltenders to work between the pipes, launching 51 shots and forcing 44 saves. Nate Skidmore made 20 stops and Doug Johnston made 24. Cornwall's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Gloucester power plays. The Colts bested their season scoring average. Cornwall averages 3.0 goals per game.

Cornwall additionally got points from Quince, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Pierre Ouellette, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Cornwall included Cal Hofford and Lawson MacDonald, who each put in one. More assists for Cornwall came via Sean King, who had two and Ross Craig and Tanner Spink, who contributed one a piece.

Gloucester excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Jordan Piccolino rejected 19 shots on goal for the Colts. Cornwall incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Rangers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
