Kemptville beats Ottawa 4-3 after comeback scare

The Kemptville 73s survived a determined comeback attempt by the Ottawa Senators on the way to a 4-3 win.

Kemptville made the score 3-0 on a goal by Erik Brown at 17:13 in the second period, and Ottawa got as close as 3-2 when Zac Tierney scored 4:27 into the third period.

The 73s got the win thanks to a great game by Brown, who had two goals and one assist. Brown scored the first of his two goals at 11:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kemptville. Jesse Blais assisted on the tally. Brown's next tally made the score Kemptville with 2:47 left in the second period. A roughing penalty on Eric Clitsome had put Kemptville on the power play. Dean Galasso picked up the assist.

Kemptville also got points from Galasso, who also registered one goal and two assists. Aaron Hickie also scored for Kemptville. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville were Matt Tugnutt and Dylan Giberson, who contributed one a piece.

The Senators forced the 73s goalie Matt Couvrette to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Ottawa also got a goal from David Hopfer as well. More assists for Ottawa came via Deric Boudreau, who had three and Justin Charbonneau and Hunter Racine, who each chipped in one.

Kemptville's Couvrette stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The 73s totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For Kemptville, Jonathon Masters was ejected from the game. Ottawa took out Ian Andriano after he had made 11 saves and installed Alexandre Savard-Belanger in goal, where he finished with seven saves and the loss. The Senators incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
