Nepean downs Hawkesbury, 5-2Nepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Sun, Nov 24, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Mathieu Galipeau finished with one point to lead the Nepean Raiders to a 5-2 victory over the Hawkesbury Hawks. Nepean put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Hawkesbury to score on any of its three power plays. The Raiders' offense rang up 41 shots on the Hawks' net. Others who scored for Nepean included Brandon Watt, who had two and Keenan Hodgson and Francesco Iannantuono, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Mitchell Herlihey, who had two, Josh Zizek, who had three, and Felix Page, Tanner Williams, Philippe Gadoury, and Michael Vered, who each chipped in one. Hawkesbury was helped by Carl Faucher, who racked up one goal. Faucher scored 8:58 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Nepean. Hugo Petit assisted on the tally. Hawkesbury also got a goal from Jonathan Cyr as well. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from CJ Stubbs and Michael Guerrera, who contributed one a piece. Nepean's Brett Magnus stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Raiders incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Matthew Jenkins made 36 saves for the Hawks on 40 shots. Hawkesbury ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Hawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Andrew Reis was ejected from the game.
