Smiths Falls downs Kemptville, 7-3

Karson McCartney had two points to lead the Smiths Falls Bears to a 7-3 victory over the Kemptville 73s.

In a losing effort, Kemptville was paced by Erik Brown, who racked up two goals. Brown scored the first of his two goals at 1:51 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kemptville. Matt Martin assisted on the tally. Brown's next tally made the score 2-1 Kemptville with four seconds left in the first period. A tripping penalty on Alek Deblois had put the 73s on the power play. C Quinn provided the assist.

Smiths Falls forced 73s' netminders to work without much rest, finishing with 36 shots and forcing 29 saves. Matt Couvrette made 14 stops and Jacob Lucier made 15. The Bears bested their season scoring average. This season, Smiths Falls averages 3.8 goals per contest.

Smiths Falls also got points from Brandon Lesway, who also registered two goals and one assist, Neil Doef, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, and Stefano Momesso, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Smiths Falls included Domenic Camastra and Nic Marchand, who scored one goal each. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Taylor Henry, who had two and Ben Beasley, Yannick Crete, Daniel Lombardi, Brett Costello, Victor Beaulac, and Zachary Senyshyn, who contributed one a piece.

Kemptville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bears to score on any of their three power plays.

Kemptville also got a goal from Dylan Giberson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville were Quinn Wichers, Jonathon Masters, Olivier Chabot, and Justin Haasbeek, who each chipped in one.

Michael Pinios made 22 saves for Smiths Falls on 25 shots. The Bears incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The 73s incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
