Power's big game bests Cornwall in 5-2 Brockville winBrockville Memorial Centre Fri, Nov 22, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brockville Braves' Jonathan Power had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Cornwall Colts. Power scored on the power play at 10:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brockville and again while 10:25 into the third to make the score 4-2 Brockville.Brockville forced Cornwall goalie Jordan Piccolino to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. The Braves got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Brockville also had goals scored by Eric Israel, Cory Wilson, and Brett Garvey, who each put in one. In addition, Brockville received assists from Nathan Todd and Hayden Hulton, who contributed one a piece and Anthony Walsh and Ryan Cusin, who each chipped in two. The Colts forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. Cornwall surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Colts were helped by Marly Quince, who finished with one goal. Quince scored on the power play 15:56 into the second period to make the score 2-2. A roughing after whistle penalty on Ryan Walter had put Cornwall on the power play. Pierre Ouellette picked up the assist. Jay DAmour also scored for Cornwall. More assists for Cornwall came via Cal Hofford, who had two. Andrew Pikul made 25 saves for Brockville on 27 shots. The Braves totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Brockville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Walter was ejected from the game. Piccolino rejected 37 shots on goal for the Colts. Cornwall registered two goals on four power play opportunities. For the Colts, Neil Woolfrey was ejected from the game.
