Pembroke beats Nepean 10-1 as Durocher gets hat trick

The Nepean Raiders could not stop the Pembroke Lumber Kings' Trent Durocher, who tallied a hat trick in a 10-1 win.

Durocher notched his first tally 18:44 into the first period. He then added goals at 6:47 into the third and at 19:13 into the third.

Pembroke's Darren Smith was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 27 saves and let only one puck past him. Smith managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.66 prior to the game.

The Lumber Kings racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. Pembroke surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Lumber Kings stifled Nepean's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Pembroke kept the Raiders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Mulder made 47 saves on 57 shots. The Lumber Kings outdid their season average for goals scored. Pembroke averages 3.5 goals per game.

Pembroke additionally got points from Dylan Staples, who also grabbed one goal and three assists, Mark Petaccio, who also finished with three goals and one assist to lead the team in points, Lucas Gonu, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Jordan Larson, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Colin Kruse also scored for Pembroke. More assists for Pembroke came via Sam Gleason, who had two, Felix Chamberland, who had three, and Dylan Chase, Mac MacSorley, Patrice Wren, Stephan Beauvais, Keegan Harper, and Jake Staples, who contributed one a piece.

Nepean was often in penalty trouble, totaling 12 minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game the Raiders had been spending in the box. Nepean could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Raiders average 3.6 goals per game.

The Lumber Kings registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. For Pembroke, Reid Murphy was ejected from the game. Nepean registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. Team's Josh Zizek and Max Robitaille were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
