Smiths Falls hangs on, beats Brockville 4-2Smiths Falls Memorial Centre Sun, Nov 17, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Smiths Falls Bears took the lead against the Brockville Braves in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 4-2 victory. Victor Beaulac provided Smiths Falls with the game-winning tally when he scored 4:15 into the the first period. The Bears had taken the advantage when Brockville's Eric Israel got sent off for interference. Daniel Lombardi provided the assist.Smiths Falls' penalty kill excelled, as the Bears gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays. Smiths Falls was sparked by Alek Deblois, who racked up one goal. Deblois scored 4:49 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Smiths Falls. Yannick Crete picked up the assist. Smiths Falls also got points from Karson McCartney, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Beaulac, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Domenic Camastra also scored for Smiths Falls. In addition, Smiths Falls received assists from Ben Beasley, Sebastien Barrette, and Stefano Momesso, who each chipped in one. The Braves were helped by David Lappin, who had one goal. Lappin scored 17:59 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Smiths Falls. Andrew Peski provided the assist. Brockville also got a goal from Anthony Walsh as well. More assists for Brockville came via Nathan Todd and Cory Wilson, who contributed one a piece. The Bears' Michael Pinios stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Smiths Falls incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. For the Bears, Beaulac was ejected from the game. Andrew Pikul rejected 26 shots on goal for Brockville. The Braves incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
