Pembroke beats Smiths Falls 3-2 after comeback scareSmiths Falls Memorial Centre Fri, Nov 15, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Smiths Falls Bears tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Pembroke Lumber Kings held on for a 3-2 victory. Pembroke took a 3-0 lead during the third period, only to have Smiths Falls storm back on a Brandon Lesway goal 16:49 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Lumber Kings were sparked by Lucas Gonu, who had one goal and one assist. Gonu scored on the power play 5:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pembroke. Pembroke had gained a power play chance when Daniele Disipio was whistled for interference. Sam Gleason assisted on the tally. The Lumber Kings forced the Bears goalie Michael Pinios to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. Pembroke additionally got points from Felix Chamberland, who also registered one goal and one assist. Pembroke also got a goal from Fraser Turner as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Mark Petaccio and Stephan Beauvais, who contributed one a piece. Smiths Falls kept Pembroke's goalie busy throughout the game, and Darren Smith made 37 saves on 39 shots. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Taylor Henry, who had two and Nicolas Coates and Victor Beaulac, who each chipped in one. The Lumber Kings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Michael Pinios made 31 saves for the Bears on 34 shots. Smiths Falls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
