Pembroke holds on for 5-3 win against Gloucester

The Gloucester Rangers tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Pembroke Lumber Kings would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 5-3.

A goal by Jordan Larson put Pembroke up 5-2 in the third period, but Gloucester pulled to within two on Ryan Kuffner's tally 7:13 into the third period.

The Lumber Kings were led by Patrice Wren, who finished with one goal. Wren scored 4:23 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Pembroke. Colin Kruse picked up the assist.

Pembroke stifled the Rangers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Lumber Kings kept Gloucester's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nate Skidmore made 48 saves on 53 shots.

Pembroke additionally got points from Kruse, who also registered one goal and one assist. Dylan Chase also scored for Pembroke. More assists for Pembroke came via Dylan Staples, who had two and Sam Gleason, Mark Petaccio, Mac MacSorley, and Liam Biard, who each chipped in one.

The Rangers were led by Connor McLaren, who grabbed two goals and one assist. McLaren scored the first of his two goals at 12:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke. McLaren's next tally made the score 2-2 with 4:36 left in the first period. Greg Jansz assisted on the tally. In addition, Gloucester received assists from Zak Salloum, who had one.

Pembroke's Sean Keating stopped 20 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Lumber Kings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Gloucester incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
