Brockville blows out Hawkesbury, 5-2

The Brockville Braves had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Hawkesbury Hawks.

Brockville was led by Liam Neuman, who racked up one goal. Neuman scored 13:13 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Brockville. Hayden Hulton picked up the assist.

The Braves forced Hawkesbury's goaltenders to work in net, getting 46 shots and forcing 41 saves. Matthew Jenkins made 35 stops and Cory Simic made six. Brockville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hawks to score on any of their three power plays.

Brockville additionally got points from Ryan Cusin, who also registered one goal and one assist. Brockville also got a goal from Nathan Todd as well. In addition, Brockville received assists from Jonathan Power, who had three and Eric Israel and Andrew Peski, who each chipped in one.

Hawkesbury was led by Francis Landers, who grabbed one goal. Landers scored 18 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Carl Faucher provided the assist. CJ Stubbs also scored for Hawkesbury. Other players who recorded assists for Hawkesbury were Jonathan Cyr and Joshua Renaud, who contributed one a piece.

The Braves' David Poirier stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Brockville totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-7 on the power play. Team's Owen Gill and Brett Van Stralen were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Hawks ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major. For Hawkesbury, Damien Charette was ejected from the game.
