Early goals doom Hawkesbury, falls to Gloucester, 7-0Earl Armstrong Arena Wed, Nov 06, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A four-goal first period deficit cost the Hawkesbury Hawks, which could not recover and fell to the Gloucester Rangers, 7-0. Greg Jansz was all over the ice for Gloucester, as he tallied two goals and three assists in the win. Jansz scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 9:51 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Gloucester. A head contact penalty on Daniel Brickley had put the Rangers on the power play. Maximian Veronneau provided the assist. Jansz's next tally on the power play made the score 7-0 Gloucester with 5:07 left in the third period. Keegan Rowe picked up the assist. Doug Johnston spearheaded the defensive effort for Gloucester, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 37 saves for the shutout. The solid play of Johnston will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 3.86. The Rangers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Hawkesbury power plays. Hawkesbury was unable to stop Gloucester from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rangers eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Gloucester surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Gloucester additionally got points from Ryan Kuffner, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Veronneau, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Michael DiBello, who also had one goal and one assist.
