Pembroke blows out Brockville, 4-1Pembroke Memorial Center Sun, Nov 03, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Brockville Braves had trouble finding ways to stop the Pembroke Lumber Kings, which beat Braves, 4-1. Pembroke's Sean Keating was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 42 saves and let only one puck past him. Despite the solid performance, Keating will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 1.0 entering the contest. Lucas Gonu had a great game for the Lumber Kings, netting two goals. Gonu's tallies came on the power play at 10:27 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke and short handed 10:35 into the third to make the score 4-1 Pembroke. Brockville was unable to stop Pembroke from sending pucks towards the net, and the Lumber Kings eventually piled up 41 shots on goal. Sam Gleason also scored for Pembroke. Other players who recorded assists for Pembroke were Colin Kruse and Jordan Larson, who each chipped in two. The Braves did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Brockville averages 3.2 goals per game. The Braves' offense rang up 43 shots on Pembroke's net. Brockville was led by Hayden Hulton, who scored the team's only goal. Hulton scored on the power play 8:34 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Braves had taken the advantage when the Lumber Kings' Gonu got sent off for handling the puck. Eric Israel assisted on the tally. Pembroke incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Brockville's Andrew Pikul stopped 37 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Braves incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
