Sturtz's goals lift Carleton Place to 7-3 victory over Gloucester

Andy Sturtz was all over the ice for the Carleton Place Canadians, as he tallied five goals in Carleton Place's 7-3 win over the Gloucester Rangers.

Sturtz's first goal came 18:19 into the first period. He then added goals at 19:27 into the first, at 6:40 into the second, at 3:17 into the third, and at 7:55 into the third.

The Canadians' penalty kill excelled, as Carleton Place gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

The Canadians forced Rangers' goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 37 shots and forcing 30 saves. Doug Johnston made 20 stops and Danick Boisvert made 10. Carleton Place found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Canadians have scored at the pace of 4.5 goals per game during the current campaign.

Carleton Place also got points from Jim Roll, who also tallied one goal and three assists and Brett DAndrea, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Larry Smith, Elias Ghantous, Adam Lloyd, Stephen Cooney, Luke Edwards, Vinny Post, Landon Gareau, Stephen Bayliss, and Evan Peterson, who contributed one a piece.

Gloucester was helped by Keegan Rowe, who racked up one goal. Rowe scored on the power play 16:46 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Rangers earned a power play opportunity when Smith was put in the box for tripping. Greg Jansz provided the assist. Gloucester additionally got points from Chris Deschamps, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Gloucester also got a goal from Gabriel Laurin as well. More assists for Gloucester came via Dylan McDiarmid and Maximian Veronneau, who each chipped in one.

Justin Laforest rejected 19 shots on goal for Carleton Place. The Canadians incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Gloucester incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
