Collins' big game bests Nepean in 3-1 Ottawa winNepean Sportsplex Rink 1 Sun, Nov 03, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Ryan Collins had one goal and two assists to lead the Ottawa Senators to a 3-1 victory over the Nepean Raiders. Collins scored 5:17 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Ottawa. Joey Champigny picked up the assist. Collins dished an assist on Deric Boudreau's goal that made the score 1-1 at 9:26 into the second period. He added another helper on Robert Michel's goal that made the score 3-1 Ottawa at 13:54 into the third period.Ottawa pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes. The Senators' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Nepean power plays. Ottawa's offense rang up 37 shots on Nepean's net. Ottawa also got points from Boudreau, who also registered one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Shawn Lynch, who had one. The Raiders excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Nepean did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Raiders put an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. Nepean was led by Josh Zizek, who scored the team's only goal. Zizek scored 1:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Nepean. Christopher Smith assisted on the tally. Alexandre Savard-Belanger recorded 24 saves for the Senators. Ryan Mulder made 34 saves for the Raiders on 37 shots. Nepean incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Raiders ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Keenan Hodgson was ejected from the game.
