Cornwall wins tough contest against Smiths Falls, 4-2Smiths Falls Memorial Centre Fri, Nov 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cornwall Colts and the Smiths Falls Bears were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Cornwall made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Kevin Hope at 4:31 of the second period. Hope was all over the ice for the Colts, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Cornwall pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes. The Colts kept Smiths Falls' goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Pinios made 30 saves on 34 shots. Cornwall also got points from Sean King, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Lawson MacDougall, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Cornwall also got a goal from Antonio Roumeliotis as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Billy Ulrick, who had two and Cal Hofford and Dean Derouchie, who each chipped in one. The Bears forced Cornwall goalie James Edwardson to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Smiths Falls was helped by Victor Beaulac, who registered one goal. Beaulac scored on the power play 10:41 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cornwall. The Bears had taken the advantage when the Colts' Hofford got sent off for cross checking. Stefano Momesso provided the assist. Daniele Disipio also scored for Smiths Falls. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Alek Deblois, Yannick Crete, and Zachary Senyshyn, who contributed one a piece. Cornwall's Edwardson stopped 40 shots out of the 42 that he faced. The Colts registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Smiths Falls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
