Gloucester stifles Nepean's comeback, gains 6-4 victoryEarl Armstrong Arena Fri, Nov 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Nepean Raiders almost clawed their way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Gloucester Rangers managed to pull out a 6-4 win in the end. Gloucester led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Rangers' Matt Rosebrook's scored at 11:51 in the first period to put Gloucester up 4-1. The Rangers got the win on the strength of a great game by Greg Jansz, who had two goals and two assists. Jansz scored the first of his two goals at 3:05 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jansz's next tally made the score 6-4 Gloucester with 50 seconds left in the third period. Rosebrook assisted on the tally. Gloucester made Nepean's netminders to work between the pipes, racking up 45 shots and forcing 39 saves. Ryan Mulder made 28 stops and Brett Magnus made 11. The Rangers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Gloucester averages 3.2 goals per contest. The defensemen of the Rangers were also effective in the Raiders' zone, and came away with two goals. Gloucester also got points from Rosebrook, who also registered two goals and two assists and Maximian Veronneau, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Clark Veenstra also scored for Gloucester. More assists for Gloucester came via Dylan McDiarmid, Ryan Kuffner, Matt Foget, and Zak Salloum, who each chipped in one. Nepean forced Gloucester's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, getting 35 shots and forcing 31 saves. Doug Johnston made 18 stops and Danick Boisvert made 13. The Raiders' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Gloucester power plays. Nepean was helped by Michael Vered, who tallied one goal. Vered scored 1:00 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Gloucester. Nepean additionally got points from Felix Page, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Nepean also got a goal from Philippe Gadoury as well. In addition, Nepean received assists from Keenan Hodgson, who had two and Francesco Iannantuono and Max Robitaille, who contributed one a piece. The Rangers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Raiders incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
