Carleton Place survives Kemptville comeback, wins 5-3

The Carleton Place Canadians, who led by four goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Carleton Place and clinched a 5-3 victory.

The Canadians led by four goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Carleton Place's Landon Gareau's scored at 10:33 in the third period to put the Canadians up 6-2.

Anthony McVeigh had a great game for Carleton Place, netting two goals. McVeigh scored at 4:00 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Carleton Place and again while 15:06 into the second to make the score 3-2 Carleton Place.

The Kemptville 73s' power play was ineffective against the Canadians' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Kemptville was unable to stop Carleton Place from sending pucks towards the net, and the Canadians eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. The defensemen of Carleton Place were also effective in the 73s' zone, and came away with two goals.

Carleton Place also got points from Gareau, who also registered one goal and one assist. Carleton Place also got a goal from Jim Roll as well. Other players who recorded assists for Carleton Place were Brett DAndrea, Andrew Dodson, Bradley Stitt, and Stephen Bayliss, who contributed one a piece and Larry Smith and Andy Sturtz, who each chipped in two.

Kemptville was helped by Dylan Giberson, who finished with one goal. Giberson scored 19:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Dean Galasso assisted on the tally. Jesse Blais also scored for Kemptville. In addition, Kemptville received assists from Hayden Hanson, who had one and Cody Hendsbee and C Quinn, who each chipped in two.

Guillaume Therien rejected 27 shots on goal for the Canadians. Carleton Place incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Jacob Lucier recorded 38 saves for the 73s. Kemptville incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
