Brockville rolls over Gloucester, 7-3

The Gloucester Rangers had trouble finding ways to stop the Brockville Braves, which beat Rangers, 7-3.

Ryan Cusin was all over the ice for Brockville, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Cusin scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:32 into the second period to make the score 4-0 Brockville. The Braves had taken the advantage when Gloucester's Dylan McDiarmid got sent off for holding. Eric Israel picked up the assist. Cusin's next tally on the power play made the score 6-1 Brockville with 12:40 left in the third period. Brockville had gotten the advantage when the Rangers' Chris Morgan was sent off for interference. Brett Garvey provided the assist.

Gloucester's seven penalties came back to haunt it, as the Rangers let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Braves forced Gloucester goalie Doug Johnston to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Brockville outdid its season average for goals scored. The Braves average 3.4 goals per game. Brockville got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Brockville also got points from Nathan Todd, who also tallied two goals and one assist, Garvey, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Andrew Peski, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Cory Wilson also scored for Brockville. More assists for Brockville came via Hayden Hulton, Matthew Lourenco, and David Lappin, who contributed one a piece and Shane Riddell and Jonathan Power, who each chipped in two.

The Rangers kept the Braves' goalie busy throughout the game, and David Poirier made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Gloucester was helped by Matthieu Desautels, who racked up one goal and one assist. Desautels scored 8:05 into the third period to make the score 6-2 Brockville. Matt Foget picked up the assist. Gloucester additionally got points from Maximian Veronneau, who also registered one goal and one assist. Gloucester also got a goal from Greg Jansz as well. Other players who recorded assists for Gloucester were Colton Keuhl, who had one and Clark Veenstra, who had two.

Brockville ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Team's Riddell and Lucas Linville were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Doug Johnston made 31 saves for the Rangers on 38 shots. Gloucester totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. For the Rangers, Keuhl was ejected from the game.
