Cornwall downs Pembroke in overtime, 1-0 (OT)Ed Lumley Arena Thu, Oct 24, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cornwall Colts pulled out a 1-0 (OT) overtime victory over the Pembroke Lumber Kings on a clutch goal by Cal Hofford. Cornwall was boosted by Jordan Piccolino, who turned in a shutout with 25 saves. The solid play of Piccolino will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 1.95. Hofford's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 26 seconds in the fourth period. Antonio Roumeliotis picked up the assist. The Colts' defense was surprisingly good. Cornwall allows 2.4 goals per game. The Colts' offense rang up 41 shots on Pembroke's net. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were Marly Quince, who had one. The Lumber Kings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Cornwall to score on any of its five power plays. Pembroke was held below its usual level of production. The Lumber Kings put an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. Darren Smith recorded 40 saves for Pembroke. The Lumber Kings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors and had no power play opportunities.
