Kanata beats Ottawa 3-1 after comeback scare

The Ottawa Senators tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Kanata Stallions would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1.

A goal by Devin Fullum put Kanata up 3-0 in the second period, but Ottawa pulled to within two on Chris King's tally 4:51 into the third period.

The Senators' power play was ineffective against the Stallions' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Ottawa was unable to stop Kanata from sending pucks towards the net, and the Stallions eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Kanata was helped by Nic LaBurn, who finished with one goal and one assist. LaBurn scored 7:12 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Kanata. Jeremy Carigan picked up the assist. Kanata also got points from Fullum, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Kanata also got a goal from Derian Plouffe as well. In addition, Kanata received assists from Kris Myllari, who had one.

The Senators' offense operated below they season average. Ottawa puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game.

More assists for Ottawa came via Shawn Lynch and Joe Shecter, who each chipped in one.

Gunner Rivers made 18 saves for the Stallions on 19 shots. Kanata incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Alexandre Savard-Belanger recorded 31 saves for the Senators. Ottawa incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
