Smiths Falls stifles Kanata's comeback, gains 4-2 victory

The Smiths Falls Bears, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Smiths Falls and clinched a 4-2 victory.

The Bears led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Smiths Falls' Zachary Senyshyn's scored at 9:36 in the second period to put the Bears up 3-0.

Senyshyn had a great game for Smiths Falls, netting two goals.

The Bears' offense rang up 33 shots on the Kanata Stallions' net. Smiths Falls got its opportunities on the power play, but did not convert any of its nine chances.

Brandon Lesway also scored for Smiths Falls. Other players who recorded assists for Smiths Falls were Alek Deblois, who had two and Chris MacMillan, Domenic Camastra, Brett Costello, and Victor Beaulac, who contributed one a piece.

Kanata stifled the Bears' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Stallions were helped by Neil Penner, who had one goal. Penner scored on the power play 15:50 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Smiths Falls. Kanata earned a power play opportunity when Darius Gibson was put in the box for cross checking. Derian Plouffe provided the assist. Kanata also got a goal from Kris Myllari as well. More assists for Kanata came via Ben Fanjoy and Jeremy Carigan, who each chipped in one.

Michael Pinios rejected 26 shots on goal for Smiths Falls. The Bears ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. For Smiths Falls, Deblois was ejected from the game. Gunner Rivers recorded 29 saves for the Stallions. Kanata incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
