Nepean rides Magnus to victory over Hawkesbury, 4-1Robert Hartley Sports Complex1 Fri, Oct 18, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Nepean Raiders relied on the sparkling performance of Brett Magnus in net to grab a 4-1 win against the Hawkesbury Hawks. Nepean was led by Conner Judson, who had one goal. Judson scored 10:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Nepean. Josh Zizek picked up the assist. The Raiders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Hawkesbury to score on any of its four power plays. Nepean also got points from Francesco Iannantuono, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Philippe Gadoury, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Christopher Smith also scored for Nepean. In addition, Nepean received assists from Felix Page, who had two and Tanner Williams, Keenan Hodgson, and Mitchell Herlihey, who contributed one a piece. The Hawks made Nepean's netminders to work all game long, ripping 31 shots and forcing 30 saves. Magnus made 29 stops and Ryan Mulder made one. Hawkesbury managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Hawks wound up below its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. Hawkesbury was led by Nicolas Vlahos, who scored the team's only goal. Vlahos scored 12:33 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Carl Faucher provided the assist. The Raiders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Matthew Jenkins recorded 26 saves for the Hawks.
