Brown lifts Kemptville over Kanata, 4-1

The Kemptville 73s relied on the scoring touch of Erik Brown, who netted two goals, to beat the Kanata Stallions, 4-1.

Brown found the back of the net 14:58 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 7:27 into the second to make the score 3-1 Kemptville.

Kanata was stymied by Kemptville netminder Matt Couvrette, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Couvrette certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.88 entering the contest.

The 73s pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 24 penalty minutes.

Kemptville put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stallions to score on any of their seven power plays.

Kemptville also got a goal from Dean Galasso as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville were Brandon Seatter, C Quinn, Matt Tugnutt, and Dylan Giberson, who each chipped in one.

Kanata's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Kemptville power plays. The Stallions could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Kanata averages 3.4 goals per game.

The Stallions were led by Devin Fullum, who scored the team's only goal. Fullum scored 9:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kanata.

For the 73s, Phil Smith and Brandon Cole were ejected from the contest. Kanata's Cole Skinner stopped 20 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Stallions ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors. Team's Connor Cobbold and Doug Harvey were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
