Hawkesbury wins tough contest against Gloucester, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Hawkesbury Hawks escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Gloucester Rangers.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Nicolas Vlahos at 8:41 of the third period.

Hawkesbury got the win behind a great game by Yanik Laliberte, who had one goal and three assists. Laliberte scored on the power play 5:57 into the third period to make the score 2-2. The Hawks had gotten the advantage when Gloucester's Chris Morgan was sent off for tripping. Carl Faucher provided the assist.

Hawkesbury excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Hawks kept the Rangers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Doug Johnston made 30 saves on 34 shots.

Hawkesbury additionally got points from Zach Car, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Hugo Petit also scored for Hawkesbury. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Daniel Brickley and Trent Durocher, who contributed one a piece.

Hawkesbury was unable to stop Gloucester from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rangers eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Gloucester was helped by Matt Foget, who racked up one goal and one assist. Foget scored 12:07 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Gloucester. Ryan Kuffner picked up the assist. Gloucester also got points from Kuffner, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Gloucester came via Lucas Zwaagstra, who had one.

Guillaume Therien rejected 30 shots on goal for the Hawks. Hawkesbury incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Rangers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
