Smiths Falls falls to Pembroke in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Pembroke Lumber Kings pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Smiths Falls Bears on a clutch goal by Lucas Gonu.

Pembroke was sparked by Gonu, who registered one goal. Gonu scored 1:04 into overtime to make the score 3-2 Pembroke. Jordan Larson assisted on the tally.

The Lumber Kings forced Smiths Falls goalie Michael Pinios to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Colin Kruse also scored for Pembroke. In addition, Pembroke received assists from Darren Smith, Sam Gleason, Chris Minns, and Felix Chamberland, who contributed one a piece.

The Bears' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Pembroke power plays.

Smiths Falls was helped by Victor Beaulac, who tallied one goal. Beaulac scored on the power play 16:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Pembroke. The Bears had gained a power play chance when Keegan Harper was whistled for cross checking. Yannick Crete picked up the assist. Smiths Falls also got a goal from Alek Deblois as well. More assists for Smiths Falls came via Ben Beasley, Daniel Lombardi, and Nic Marchand, who each chipped in one.

Smith recorded 26 saves for Pembroke. The Lumber Kings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Pembroke ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and T Beveridge was ejected from the game. Michael Pinios made 32 saves for Smiths Falls on 35 shots. The Bears incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
